Your Name in Nature

There is so much to explore when it comes to being outside. So many activities and laughs to be shared with friends and family. Learning outdoors can be a fun way to engage your children with nature.

The first half of this activity is getting outside! Walk around with your kids and discover the nature around you. Discuss and compare different plants, twigs, leaves, bugs, etc. that you see. Give them each a bag to put things they find interesting in. It could get very interesting to see what they collect.

The second half is a hands on name craft, creating a keepsake using those things they liked and kept. Feel free to go even further and decorate the rest of the poster board with nature as well.

Supplies Needed

  • Sandwich bag

  • Poster board

  • Marker

  • Glue

  • Collections from nature

Directions

  • Walk around outside and let your kids gather things in nature that interest them. This can include flowers, grass, twigs, anything they find interesting. Have them put their findings in their bag while on your walk.

  • After your walk, take your poster board and write their name on the poster board. If they are old enough to write their name, help them make it really big on the poster board.

  • Pour out their fun collections on the table in front of them and let them glue them on the top of their name, creating a beautiful keepsake of their adventure with you.
