Saltwater Color Project

Water color is a fun way to paint. It gives you a chance to paint outside the lines and create abstract art and let the colors flow together. The salt adds a cool effect that’ll have you doing this project multiple times.

Supplies Needed

  • White 8 x 11 cardstock

  • Water color paint

  • Paintbrush

  • Masking tape

  • Salt

Directions

  • Place the card stock in front of you. Tape all four sides leaving a small amount of tape on each end to stick to the table making the paper unable to move.

  • Using the water color, create a picture or abstract painting covering the empty space.

  • After creating a masterpiece, sprinkle salt right away all over the watercolor.

  • Let this dry for 10-15 minutes and then carefully remove the salt over a trash can.

  • Lastly, slowly remove the tape leaving a border around your art.

Tips

  • Try not to get the card stock too wet or the salt won’t dry all of the water up.

  • You can put more tape on the card stock, diagonally or other directions, to get even more creative.
