Whole Body Health
At Small World Child Care we want to encourage our children to live a healthy conscience lifestyle.
Today we challenge you to create your own rainbow.
There’s always GOLD at the end of the rainbow.
Ingredients / Examples
RED: apples, tomatoes, cherries, watermelon, strawberries
ORANGE: carrots, oranges, sweet potatoes, squash
YELLOW: peppers, bananas, lemons, corn, pineapple
GREEN: broccoli, kiwi, celery, limes, peas, avocado
BLUE/PURPLE: grapes, blueberries, raisins, plums
WHITE: cauliflower, coconut, rice, yogurt
Directions / Preparation
Gather all your favorite fruits and veggies that correspond with each food group.
After they are cleaned and cooked (if needed) go ahead and lay them out (on your plate or dish of choice) in a shape of a rainbow.
While setting up your rainbow, we encourage you to go over why we try to incorporate these colors into our daily eating routine. Pictured to the left is a chart describing the health benefits to each group.
Lastly, If you have completed the challenge of the day, go ahead and give yourself a high five and send us pictures of what food you chose to fill your rainbow of health with.
