TRICK-OR-TREATING SAFETY TIPS
Tip #1: EAT before you TRICK-OR-TREAT
Little tummies get grumpy when they get hungry. Feed your children dinner before going out to trick-or-treat so that you can all enjoy yourselves. This may also help prevent them from sneaking into their candy too much before you get home.
Tip #2: LIGHT up the NIGHT
While you’re out trick-or-treating, keep in mind that it will be getting dark while you’re out. Be sure that all of your children carry a flashlight with them so that they can see where they are going and can easily be seen by other people and drivers.
Tip #3 PLAN before they SCRAM
On a night of mischief and fun, be sure to have a plan B in the event that members of your household get back home before planned. The last thing you want is someone to be locked out in the cold.
Tip # 4: SCOUT the ROUTE
Know the route your kids will be taking while they’re out trick-or-treating. Whether you’re at home handing out candy, your kids are late getting home, or part of your group gets seperated, you’ll want to know the route they’re taking. Being prepared ahead of time will prevent worry later.
Tip #5: ADDRESS for SUCCESS
Be clear with your children about your boundaries and expectations for the night. If your expectations are clearly understood, they will be more likely to make the right choices.
