Nobody warns you about this stuff. If you’re raising a preschooler, you already know exactly what we mean.
1. The outfit negotiations. It’s 9°F outside and your child has decided today is a shorts-and-sandals day. You will not win this fight. Pick your battles.
2. “I’m not tired” — followed immediately by falling asleep face-first in a bowl of cereal.
3. The snack that was “the best thing ever” yesterday is now “disgusting” and “I never liked that.” No explanation given.
4. You have memorized at least one children’s song you never wanted to know. It is in your head right now.
5. Bath time somehow takes longer than bedtime, dinner, and getting dressed combined.
6. “Why?” is not a question. It’s a lifestyle.
7. You’ve become fluent in toddler logic — where “five more minutes” can mean thirty seconds or forty-five minutes, depending entirely on vibes.
8. Something sticky is on your shirt and you genuinely don’t know what it is or when it got there.
9. A cardboard box is, without question, the best toy in the house.
10. And somehow, after all of it, bedtime hugs still get you every single time.
