Curriculum is what teachers want children to learn.

Effective curriculum is rich in opportunities for practicing academic,

intellectual, social, and life skills.

As part of providing a healthy, loving, learning environment for
the children here at Small World, all teachers are
required to complete a weekly lesson plan and parent advisor.
The lesson plan is based on three components

1. Weekly Themes:

A weekly theme with accompanying alphabet letter, number,  shape, color, math and science concept are used as a base for planning.

2. Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP):

This research based practice says that the teacher looks at his/her age group when planning. Within the lesson plan book the teacher have a basic development idea for the daily activities. In DAP, assessment and curriculum are integrated. Teachers continually engage in assessment for the purpose of improving teaching and learning. The results of assessment are used to benefit children in adapting curriculum, teaching to meet learning  and developmental needs, communicating with families, and evaluating program effectiveness.

3. Daily Schedule:

A daily schedule is an outline of the events that occur each day.
The daily schedule usually does not change from day to day and it reflects three activities. Circle Time, Structure Activity and Learning Centers.
The teachers are expected to teach content that is challenging but achievable, that is important and worthwhile,
builds on prior knowledge and extends learning.
